May I tell you about today?

Derek and I flew to Seattle last night to come see our little freshman, Diego, at Western Washington University in Bellingham where we dropped him off a month ago. It's "Family Weekend," and we had miles, so we thought we'd come. We got in late last night to our Airbnb, and this morning, Diego called me, and after we chatted a few minutes, he said, Don't you want to let me in?

The hug he gave me, after not seeing him for over a month--the longest I've gone without seeing him--made the whole trip worth it. He's been fine, thriving really, and we've been fine too. That's as it should be. But to have him here, to make him a cup of coffee and for him to sit down and play guitar and tell us about his classes and life while we stretched and to tell him about our lives....Well, that was a good morning.

We went to go eat at Hokkai Ramen and Sushi, treating our boy to something other than dorm food. Wonderful place. Delicious food. Then we checked out Diego's dorm room.

And went to a guitar store.

We got coffee at my favorite coffee place in Bellingham. Not only do they have heavy whipping cream for your joe, they will heat it, god bless them.

Our day of spoiling Diego continued. We bought him bike lights for night rides on Galbraith. We took him to Haggen's where he bought yogurts, bars of soap, and yerba mates. We made dinner at our Airbnb and Derek gave Diego some harmonica tips.

All in all, a perfect day. Tomorrow we will hike.

To be able to do all this for him and with him is incredible.

Being here with him is Heaven.
